National Wreaths Across America Day - December 18, 2021 at 10:00am - Wreaths Across America Fund
On December 18, 2021 at 10:00 am, Wreaths Across America will be at Utah State Veterans Memorial Cemetery to Remember and Honor our veterans through the laying of Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud. Many of us search each year for a way to thank you to our military or to make the world a more beautiful place during the holiday season. What better way to do both and honor our fallen service members, then to place a $15 wreath at their headstone? There are 5,355 graves that need a wreath. As of now 801 wreaths have been sponsored. We are only at 13% of the goal. Help make Utah State Veterans Memorial Cemetery look even better than Arlington Cemetery. Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 2,500 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad. From the Revolutionary War to present day conflicts, our veterans are devoted sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers. They come from all backgrounds in life to place those lives on the line for our freedoms. There are millions of individual stories to tell. REMEMBER the Fallen. . . HONOR those who Serve. . . TEACH our children the value of Freedom. In many homes, there is an empty seat for one who is serving or one who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. There is no better time to express our appreciation than during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. https://wreathsacrossamerica.org/ Please use the barcode provided to make finding the NSDAR chapter faster. As a member of DAR, it is more than my duty to carry out this legacy, it is my honor.

Campbell Canada Supporting Survivors of Residential Schools Fund
From the year 1831 until the last school closed its doors in 1996, about 150,000 Frist Nation, Inuit and Metis children were removed from their families and communities and forced to attend residential schools. These schools were funded by the Canadian government and at first were administered by the Christian churches. The purpose of these schools was to educate and convert Indigenous youth. This translated into taking their names, identities, language and culture away from them in order to eliminate all aspects of Indigenous culture. The conditions in these schools were so poor that many of these children were abused, malnourished and died alone and away from their families. To this day, we are not certain how many children (some as young as 3 years of age) died in the residential schools as the accurate records were not kept. With the discovery of 215 children in a mass grave at one of these residential schools in Kamloops BC, this part of Canadian story has been brought forward once again. We would encourage everyone to educate themselves about this recent part of our history and extend our support to the many families that are dealing with the impact of attending residential schools today. The charities that are a part of this fund provide such support. Donations made through this fund will be matched 100% (50% by the Campbell Soup Foundation and 50% by Campbell Canada up to a max of $10K)
