North Coast Opportunities Inc
NCO is committed to supporting the needs of fire survivors from the devastating Lake County wildfires of 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
NCO continues to provide resources and services to fire survivors. It began in 2015, when NCO started managing the fiscal donations in the immediate aftermath of each fire. NCO then disbursed those funds to fire survivors through an application process. NCO is now administering assistance through our disaster case management process, providing food to survivors through our weekly food pantries, and utilizing AmeriCorps VISTA service members to assist with recovery.
American National Red Cross
Along with community partners, the Red Cross is providing hot meals and distributing comfort kits to impacted families. Red Cross disaster workers have numerous other shelters, cots and shelter items on stand-by to be able to respond quickly if needed. The Red Cross is working closely with state and local officials to expand the relief response if necessary to make sure people get the help they need.
Direct Relief has reached out to more than two dozen healthcare partners in the surrounding areas to offer assistance, and has also been in communication with the California Department of Health, as well as the California Office of Emergency Services. Direct Relief maintains a standing inventory of items needed during wildfires, such as N-95 masks and respiratory medications.
