On January 7, 2023, five Black police officers from the Memphis Police Department severely beat 29-year-old Tyre Nichols, a Black man, during a traffic stop, resulting in his death three days later in the hospital. Tyre was a father, son, photographer, skateboarder, and beloved member of the Memphis community. His killing by police is yet another gut wrenching reminder of intractable systemic inequities that stripped him prematurely of his life.
We've created this fund to help support local organizations in Memphis who are doing work to create a more just and equitable community. Pinterest will match all donations to this fund 1:1.
